Talk data to me.

Your data's important. We understand. That's why we wanted to highlight the answers to a few of your biggest questions.

Who owns the data? Hiber collects a lot of data. Through sensors, gateways, and edge stations. But that’s where it ends. All data collected by Hiber is owned by the customers. Hiber doesn’t sell or reproduce data for third parties. Privacy Most of the time, the data that Hiber collects does not include privacy-sensitive information from individuals. But, as an extra safety measure to protect our customers, we always implement privacy-by-design standards in everything we do. By default, our solutions don’t enable storing of privacy sensitive data like bank information or contact details. Which means we can’t collect any privacy-sensitive data by accident. Data residency and data centers Hiber’s Mission Control is hosted exclusively on the public Google Cloud Platform. It’s a secure and leading cloud services platform that offers compute power, database storage, content delivery, and other functionalities. The Google Cloud Platform maintains both ISO 27001 certificates and SOC 2 Type II reports.

Google is responsible for the physical, environmental and operational security controls at the boundaries of Hiber’s infrastructure. Data Centers used by Google Cloud Platform include extensive security measures built around a layered security model. These safeguards include:

  • Vehicle access barriers
  • Perimeter fencing
  • Metal detectors
  • Biometric access control
  • Alarms
  • Google designed electronic access control cards
Hiber is responsible for the logical, network, and application security. All Hiber data is stored in Google Data Centers located in Ireland, which is part of the European Union. The customer portal, Mission Control and API are also hosted in the same location. Security Your data is important. Which is why Hiber’s entire network is secure by design. It’s a big topic to discuss for one web page, but in essence, your data is encrypted most of the time in Hiber. And you have control over whether we decrypt your data in the first place.

Both the data itself and the transport layer are encrypted, so nobody outside of the system can access your data. And within the system, the data is only decrypted if you want to use any of the Hiber dashboarding options. If you’d rather, we can send encrypted data directly to your system, without any decryption stops. The data is also never stored in a decrypted state, so you can rest easy knowing it’s safe. Encryption standards are at least AES-128 or better.
