HiberHilo is designed to make remote well and pipeline monitoring simple. With easy installation and seamless operations, it gives oil and gas companies reliable access to critical field data, without sending crews on-site.
But while we believe remote IoT should feel easy, creating a system that is both easy and secure requires serious effort. At the core of HiberHilo is a deep commitment to keeping operational data private, compliant, and protected at all times.
Here are answers to the questions we hear most often about data security and residency.
What Kind of Data Does HiberHilo Collect?
HiberHilo collects only the information you choose to monitor. For most customers, that means pressure and temperature readings; some also add flow sensors. No other data is measured, stored, or shared.
To create your account, we collect only basic details like -name, username, and email- strictly for access and authentication. This information is fully protected under GDPR, and never sold, shared, or distributed.
Where is the Data Stored?
Sensor data is transmitted securely to the gateway via LoRa, even over distances of up to 8 km. From there, it is temporarily stored and then sent (every 15 minutes, or at your chosen interval) to the Google Cloud through secure satellite networks such as Inmarsat.
Before transmission, all data is encrypted. Once delivered, it is stored safely in the Google Cloud, with physical servers located in the EU.
What are HiberHilo’s Data Security Practices?
Data security is built into everything we do. HiberHilo is SOC-2 Type II compliant, verified through independent, accredited audits and annual penetration testing. Our systems are continuously monitored in real time via Vanta, ensuring ongoing compliance and resilience.
We follow secure-by-design software principles, and operate from a secure facility with advanced access controls. We only partner with organizations that uphold the highest standards such as Inmarsat for satellite transmission and Google Cloud for storage. Our practices have been reviewed and approved by major operators, including Shell.
Who has Access to the Data?
Ownership of your data rests entirely with you. Your team has full access, while HiberHilo’s headquarters only reviews technical performance data to ensure your sensors and gateways are working correctly.
Access to the online dashboard is strictly authenticated, so only verified users can see operational information. Strong SLAs and contractual protections safeguard your ownership rights. And of course, we never sell or share your data.
Secure by Design
Compliance matters, but at Hiber we go further. HiberHilo protects operational data with enterprise-grade security- Independent audits, SOC-2 Type II certification, and strict access controls. By safeguarding your information end to end, we help you operate confidently, knowing your most critical data is always protected.
